How I Became My Own Marketing Photographer for Nurture and Adorn

Before I ever started my breastmilk keepsake business, I had already fallen in love with photography. I’ve always been captivated by a good photo—whether it’s of people, a breathtaking landscape, or just an everyday moment. There’s something magical about the sharpness of an image or the pure happiness you can freeze in time with a single click.

In the beginning, I dove deep into learning everything I could. YouTube became my classroom, and I spent years practicing, tweaking, and perfecting my skills. Eventually, I tried to turn my passion into a business. But the photography market was so saturated, and I wasn’t in the best position to market myself. Some days, I even battled imposter syndrome, questioning whether I was truly “good enough.”

Then life shifted—I had my son. I breastfed him, and while I cherished that journey, I knew it would one day come to an end. I wanted something tangible to remember that chapter of our lives. True to my nature, I researched everything I could about creating a breastmilk keepsake. After some trial and error, I finally made my first piece. Soon, I began offering the service to other moms… and orders started coming in!

Throwback to the first piece, I ever made. Sadly the Bracelet was not good quality and it broke.

That’s when my photography skills came full circle. I knew I needed beautiful images of my keepsakes to showcase them online, but I also wanted to connect more deeply with my customers. So, I began offering free “Mommy and Me” photoshoots to moms who purchased a piece, in exchange for being able to use the photos for marketing. It was the perfect win-win—I got to photograph real moms and their children wearing my creations, and they got timeless memories captured for free.

Looking back, it feels like my two passions—photography and creating breastmilk keepsakes—were always meant to meet. What started as a love for the art of photography has become one of the most important tools for building my business, Nurture and Adorn. Every image I take now tells a story—of love, motherhood, and the beauty of preserving a moment forever.
