How to Mail Your Breastmilk for Your Keepsake

Step 1: Collecting Your Milk

You can collect your milk in any designated breastmilk storage bag, such as Lansinoh, Medela, or any other sterile bag made for breastmilk.

How much milk do you need to send?

I typically ask for 1 ounce, especially if it’s traveling through the mail. That way, even if a little spills during transit, there will still be enough left to create your keepsake.

If you're struggling with supply, please don’t worry. I’ve created meaningful pieces with very small amounts of milk — all hope is not lost. Just reach out to me, and we’ll figure it out together.

Step 2: Double Bag for Safety

Once your milk is in the sterile breastmilk bag, place that bag inside a Ziploc bag. This is just an added layer of protection. Since the milk is already in a sterile container, it’s perfectly fine to use a regular Ziploc here.

You can use any size or shape Ziploc as long as it fully fits your breastmilk bag.

Important: Please label your milk with your name and order number. This ensures I know exactly who the milk belongs to — and prevents any mix-ups that might delay your order or cause confusion.

Step 3: Packaging for Mailing

If we’ve arranged an in-person drop-off, you’re all set — no additional packaging is needed.

However, if you're mailing your milk, here's what to do next:

  1. After sealing your milk in both the breastmilk and Ziploc bags, place it inside a bubble mailer (a padded envelope with bubble wrap lining).
This protects your milk from being punctured or damaged in transit.

  2. Address the envelope to:

    Nurture and Adorn
    P.O. Box 6348
    Round Rock, TX 78683

  3. Drop it in the mailbox!
Your milk can be room temperature, frozen, or refrigerated when sent. It might have a strong smell by the time it arrives — that’s totally normal and it’s still usable.

  4. I will send you a milk received email as soon as I get it. I’ll keep you updated as much as possible through the process!

Bonus Step: Add a Sentimental Note (Optional, But So Meaningful)

This is one of my favorite parts — and completely optional — but you’re welcome to include a handwritten note.

It could be:

  • A message to yourself, celebrating your breastfeeding journey

  • A note to your baby, sharing how much you loved nourishing them

  • A letter to me, telling me about your experience

These notes add so much heart to your keepsake, and I treasure each one. They help me connect even more deeply to the love behind your milk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send expired or previously frozen milk?
Yes! Since the milk is not being consumed, it’s totally fine to send expired or thawed milk. Even if it smells a bit off by the time it arrives, it’s still perfectly usable for your keepsake.

What if I forget to label my milk?
If you accidentally forget to include your name or order number, please contact me as soon as possible. Provide your tracking number and a description of your packaging so I can identify your milk and avoid any delays.

Can I send more than 1 oz?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to send more if you already have it stored in 3-4oz bags. I will only use what I need, and the rest can be turned into soap if you choose (local only - unable to keep stable for shipping) you can find the breastmilk soap link here. The rest will be discarded. I do keep a small amount of breastmilk powder for future keepsakes.

Do you return unused milk?
No, I do not return unused milk, as it may no longer be safe to store or ship again.

How soon should I send the milk after pumping?
You can send it fresh, frozen, or refrigerated. No need to worry that it will not get to me in a certain amount of time.

How long does it take to make the keepsake?
Keepsakes typically take 6-8 weeks. I’ll keep you updated throughout the process!

Sending breastmilk may feel a bit strange at first, but I promise — it’s worth it. You're preserving a powerful, loving part of your story, and I can’t wait to turn it into something you'll cherish forever.
